Shankar (Shahrukh Khan) is a mute man, raised by the powerful Raja-Saab (Amrish Puri) who treats him like a slave. The elderly Raja-Saab wants to marry Gauri (Madhuri Dixit), a vivacious young girl. Gauri however wants to see a picture of her future husband first and Raja-Saab sends her one of Shankar. Gauri falls instantly in love with him and the wedding proceeds. However, afterwards, she discovers that it's not Shankar, who she has married. She refuses to give Raja-Saab her body, so he imprisons and tortures her. When her brother Ashok (Mohnish Behl) comes to save her, Raja-Saab kills him. But before his death, Ashok makes Shankar promise him to save his sister; Shankar and Gauri flee. After a chase through the woods, Raja-Saab's men manage to capture the couple. Shankar gets almost mortally wounded, while Gauri is sold to a brothel. Shankar, however, gets saved by a mysterious healer in the mountains, who operates on his throat while he is still unconscious. The mysterious healer digs out coal from his throat which is how Shankar regains his voice again and manages to save Gauri. Then, he realizes Raja-Saab is in fact the rich man who came to his village one day and killed his parents. When the young Shankar tried to spread word that Raja Saab is in truth a murderer, Raja-Saab sneaks up from behind and shoves coal in his mouth, forcing him to swallow hence he becomes mute. Though when he was young he never saw Raja-Saab's face, he remembers the day clearly. And when it seems like deja-vu when he gets revenge for what they did to his love (Gauri) he realizes Raja-Saab and his two hencemen are the culprits. He takes his revenge on three of them, but not before letting everyone know what they did to him when he was a child. After cunningly killing them all, he returns to his love.

Bablu (Shah Rukh Khan), an aspiring chef, works in a hotel where Sonia Kapoor,(Juhi) works with him as banquet manager at the restaurant. His look-alike Manu (Shah Rukh Khan), a gangster, robs a bank alongwith his friend (Gulshan Grover) but gets caught. He comes out of prison and discovers that his cohort has double-crossed him. He murders his partner and escapes from the scene of the crime...without the money. Bablu stumbles on the money and keeps it. Manu's lover Lily (Sonali Bendre) mistakes Bablu to be Manu and spirits him away. Manu takes shelter in Bablu's house and realizes that he can use their resemblance to his advantage.Then starts the fun-ride with Babloo constantly being mistaken for Manu. With both Sonia and Lily after him, Manu furious and the Law taking him to be Manu, Babloo faces a tough time. And then, Manu kidnaps Bibi (Farida Jalal) Babloo's mother and holds her hostage.

Rahul also knows that Seema wants to get rich very quickly. How will be convince her about Sidharth? Rahul is also afraid If Sidharth finds out he will fire Rahul, thus he will remain a poor man all his life.

Going by the name anyone can conclude that the story is all about war. J P Dutta has tried to recreate battle maneuvers and comment on the futility of war. For once some sensible story line instead of all those masala mixes churned out of Bollywood. Infact, the story is inspired by the Longewala battle of 1971. In the opening reels, the director tries to introduce the various characters and their family lives. The army men’s background stories teem with the predictable marriage, an engagement ceremony that is of course interrupted by song and dance sequences. Songs and those gyrating dances are a must in our industry. Left to himself, probably Mr. Dutta would have focused entirely on the men in the war trenches but he has to cater to the commercial market. So, the second half gets down gritty to the business of re-enacting the battle between the outnumbered regiment against Pakistan's sophisticated weaponry and a huge taskforce. The war scenes are effectively picturised that it conveys the almost-suicidal heroism of our sentinels. Sunny Deol is okay, Sunil Shetty is likeable, Jackie has nothing much to do in this multi-starrer yet his handsome presence will definitely will make a difference and last but not the least - Akshaye Khanna is a scene-stealer. The music by Anu Malik is quite good. One of the songs from this album 'Sandeshey aate hai...' is very melodious. It is a must watch.
